Blogmas Day 11 - Q&A

21:31

Happy 11th Day of Blogmas everyone! Today I'm going to be doing a Q&A, because I know Blogmas is supposedly meant to be Christmassy, I didn't want to do an overload.

There's going to be a mix of questions which I've been sent by fellow bloggers and I'm excited to share my answers with you!

1.    What's your favourite Christmas film and why?

I'm torn between Elf, The Grinch and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. They all make me laugh and will always be able to lift my spirits when I feel like complete and utter crap. They have their own different types of comedy and it's all types of comedy I enjoy, like National Lampoon's is all about parody-ing and being completely over the top, and with Elf and The Grinch, it's cheesy humour or relatable humour and I like it.

2.    If you could only listen to one Christmas song for the rest of your life, what would it be?

This is a tough one, but I love I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday. My mum wakes me up every Christmas morning with it and it just brings a smile to my face.

3.    What's your favourite makeup look for this time of year?

I like to go for a suttle eye, usually using light shades of browns, pinks, creams, peaches either matte or with a shimmer. I tend to go with a dramatic lip, so using Kate Moss 107 from Rimmel is a favourite of mine, but sometimes I'll be subtle, so NYX Lip Lingerie in Bedroom Flirt is my go to, or Velvet Teddy by MAC. In terms of contouring, I never do it because for my face, I don't see the point really, but I will use either a Sleek blusher which looks like rose gold, or Rockatuer by Benefit.

4.    What is one make up product that you seriously regret buying?

My only Yves Saint Laurent lipstick. I've never really used it and it's a bit of a strage texture for me, and I feel like it just slides off my lips very easily. It's definitely not for me, or worth me spending £21 on it. It could be down to the shade, I'm not sure... I like a lot of pigment and tend to lean towards matte lipsticks because I like not applying lipstick constantly.

5.    Which is your holy grail product?

Soap & Glory Supercat eyeliner. It's so pigmented and makes my eyes look dramatic without over doing it. The tip isn't too thick either and I am a total fan of it.

6.    What's your strategy for gift buying?

I go out shopping with the person and I tend to be like "Oh this is nice, isn't it?" and I see their opinion. Sometimes people just drop me hints and I pay attention all year round (whether it be birthday, Christmas, anniversary, mother's day) to what they like and model my gift purchases off that.

7.   What is one piece of makeup you can't go without during Christmas?

Either my eyeliner or a red lipstick. I am obsessed with them both and I couldn't go through Christmas without them, they complete a look for me.

8.    What’s the one gift you would like to receive?

I'm really not sure about this one, actually. I've got everything I need but the gift I'd like to receive is for my mental health to get better. It's really ruined my 2016 and I've only had a few things to bring me out of the rut and made me feel better, so I'd like for it to get better so I can feel like life will get better for me.

9. Where do you get your inspiration for blogging?

I get it purely from my own head, to be honest. I know some of my content may seem a bit run of the mill, but I do try to make it my own because of the way I think and how I word things. I do read other blogs, but I definitely don't copy them at all. I don't believe in ripping off other people for their content, it's so unfair and unoriginal of people.

10. What's your favourite animal?

My favourite animal is a wolf. I love them so much and one of the things on my bucketlist is to go to a wolf sanctuary and have a photo of me and a wolf being nose to nose... I'd love that so much!

11. Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

That's terrifying to think of because I'd be almost 25... Wow. I see myself with my own home, in a career that I enjoy, still blogging and being stable with my mental health. I'd like that a lot.

12. What's the scariest thing you've done?

I think the scariest thing I've done was go to university. It was the most anxiety driven thing for me and it was terrifying to leave home and go into a type of world which was so different for me. It was also rewarding for me, because it did actually help my anxiety a lot, as well as bring me new knowledge, friends and a relationship which I'm happy with all of these.

13. Why did you start blogging?

I originally started blogging to kind of... Document what was going on with me regarding mental health, if that makes sense? The first post I wrote was my post about my dealings with self confidence and I didn't really think much of it at the time as in if anyone was going to read it. Then the view count started to creep up and up, then I was getting messages off people saying how it helped them with their issues with self confidence. It made me tear up in all honesty, and the feeling of warm in my heart really made me want to carry on blogging. It's why my blog exists really, I want to be able to help people even if I can't physically be there, or even if it just provides something as an escape for them.

14. What are some music artists you listen to?

I love questions like these, because I like listening to a complete variety. The artists I like are: Panic! at the Disco, 30 Seconds to Mars, Fatherson, Twenty one Pilots, Frank Sinatra, Michael Bublé, Little Mix, Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Bastille, Matoma, Katy Perry, Tove Lo, Nathan Sykes, Foals, Halsey, You Me at Six, Shawn Mendes, James Arthur, New Politics and Walk The Moon.

15. What TV shows do you watch, and what do you want to start?

I watch Game of Thrones, How to Get Away with Murder, Gossip Girl, Criminal Minds and Limitless. I'd like to start: The Flash, Supergirl, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter and Luke Cage.

16. What are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of myself for overcoming so much in my life. I've hit so many obstacles in my life and some of them were mental health related, some were related to other things I don't feel comfortable sharing online (if you're a best friend or family member reading this, you'll know what I mean). It's why I got my tattoo back in August.

It's to symbolise my strength and when I look down, I can be reminded of those obstacles and smile because I'm still, breathing, living, doing my thing and I'm so happy and bloody proud of myself. I intend on being proud of myself for the rest of my life, because knowing the strength I have is something I can never had taken away from me. It's mine, and I'm holding onto it.

I actually really enjoying this Q&A and I hope you guys did too! I also hope you had a good day, or are having a good day, and you are enjoying December, Blog/Vlogmas and your festivities!
